We are a racing and sporting cycling club based to the west of London. Our clubhouse is Staines Sailing Club, 105 Chertsey Lane, Staines-upon-Thames TW18 3LQ, where we meet every Tuesday night at 8:45 for refreshments and a chat.
Are main activity is to provide a programme of Sunday club runs that leave Staines Bridge every Sunday at 9.15am, these rides vary in pace from a training ride covering 60-70 miles without a break at a fast pace to slower paced social rides of about 30-50 miles with a cafe stop.
On Tuesday evenings in summer there is a fast training ride starting from Bishop’s Gate, Windsor Great Park at 6.30pm and a slower ride starting from the Clubhouse at the same time. A second ride from the Clubhouse often leaves at 7pm. These rides start and finish with BST and times may vary at the beginning and end of BST.
We have a programme of social activities including the annual Club Dinner and Prize Presentation and our annual two week club camp at Potterne in Wiltshire. Our members organise tours throughout the year to Mallorca in the spring, continental one day races, the Ghent 6, the Tour de France and the Pyrenees for example. Several times a year we publish the club magazine Quarter Wheeler.
We also organise time trials and Audax rides open to members and non-members. These include Thursday evening 10s and other club events in the summer where you can enter on the line and have a go! Open events need to be entered in advance through Cycling Time Trials (CTT) or British Cycling (BC). We also organise the well-established London Sightseer 105k Audax ride twice a year.
We pride ourselves on making new faces very welcome which, we believe, is why we are a successful club. Our membership is made up of all ages of men and women, if you’d like to take a closer look you are welcome to just turn up on Sunday at Staines Bridge at 9.15 for a club run. The list of club runs is here.
