Time Trialling Report
Monday 3rd October

The unexpected continuation of summer brought excellent results for some Hounslow & District members last weekend.

London & Home Counties Veteran Time Trial Association 25 (2.10.2011)

In the London & Home Counties VTTA 25 Paul Holdsworth took third place overall with a fast ride of 52 minutes 50 seconds and Nic Stagg finished in seventh place with 53.20. With just 30 seconds making a difference of four places this was clearly a highly competitive race.

It should be explained that although this event was promoted by a veterans’ organisation entry was not restricted to older riders: the winner Scott Povey (www.iride.co.uk) is not a veteran and possibly his relative youthfulness helped him achieve the superfast time of 49 minutes 43 seconds.

Two Hounslow members recorded personal bests - Damian Poulter with 58.15 and Jill Bartlett with 1.2.29.

Rob Gilmour produced another good ride, finishing in 57.21 which gave him fourth place on vets’ standard. Rob had ridden the VTTA (East Anglia) 30 the previous day where he recorded 1 hour 6 minutes, a good ride, but frustratingly just six seconds too slow to take the club veterans standard record for the distance.

Two other members rode the 25: Neil Holdsworth who did 1.4.27 and club president Jeff Marshall who suffered a flat tyre but rode on to finish in 1.4.29 having lost about five minutes.

The event was held on the Marlow course and attracted eighty riders.
